Author's Note: Caryn! Caryn is based on a real-life Caryn who frequents the JF forum. She has such a strong online personality it's hard not to like her. She also has great timing.

I was working on a future script for JF, and getting stuck at every turn. Caryn emailed me, asking if she could ask Jackie a few questions, and telling me what she'd do if she could hop in the strip and meet everybody. Her comments made a light go on in my head; to make the script work, and to get the strip moving in the proper direction for it, I needed to introduce a new character that would do what Caryn wanted to do: explore, ask questions and (gently) shake things up a little.

So by way of thanks, I made her that character.

Caryn-the-Character is the most cartoony of all the JF characters, and I wanted to set her apart as soon as I could, which is why she takes a bite out of her can of Red Bull.
